Festive finance not worrying to most people
Dec 12, 2006
A fifth of Britons are worried about the upcoming cost of Christmas according to research from Tesco Personal Finance.
Around 22 per cent of the consumers surveyed for the company's Mood of the Nation Poll said that they were worried about covering Christmas expenses and that the financial burden was likely to spoil the holiday for them.
Britons were also worried about the cost of household bills, with 39 per cent concerned about the rising costs of heating bills and 42 per cent believing that they will spend more money over Christmas than they have since August.
It wasn't just money issues that Britons weren't looking forward to when it came to the festive period either, with 28 per cent admitting to dreading Christmas generally. However, the public mood was generally one of Christmas cheer, with 53 per cent of people saying that they were not worried about festive finance.
Research from CallCredit revealed that the majority of Britons are planning to fund their Christmas using savings or regular income, while one in ten is planning to use credit such as credit cards or personal loans.
