Report identifies property hotspots for first-time buyers
Oct 19, 2006
A study has identified an area on the outskirts of Huddersfield, as the top hotspot for first-time property buyers.
The report from the Royal Bank of Scotland ranked UK postcodes by their desirability and the potential return on investment for first-time buyers. Lindley (HD3) topped the list due to the number of recent new-build projects in the town, its relatively low average property price of £138,886, compared to a national average of £193,489, the higher than average growth in house prices experienced in the past six years and its good transport links.
Other areas that made the top five were Bo'ness in West Lothian (EH51), Cardiff in Wales (CF10), Scotton in Darlington (DL9) and Hawick in Berwick-Upon-Tweed (TD9).
The head of mortgages for the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) said this year's FTB Property Index indicates the wealth of opportunities available to those first-time buyers willing to beat a path for others to follow. RBS also recognise that taking the first step onto the property ladder is never easy and they hope that the Index will provide a practical and inspiring resource for those people looking for their first mortgage.
